On Wednesday, Nov. 23, Martin School Elementary held its annual Winter Raffle Event. It is held every year as part of fundraising efforts for field trips, enrichment programs, guest visits, among others. Part of the items raffled off are community donations.
In addition to the donated items, there were also 24 classroom baskets assembled with family donations.
Local small business contributors include: All Around Gymnastics, America’s Best Defense, Antonia’s Italian Cuisine, Athletes Acceleration, Barre and Yoga Experience, Big Red Pizza, Bladez Hair Design, Bliss Bros Dairy, Briggs Garden & Home, Chemawa Golf Course, Chieftain, Coffee Connection, Coiffurium, Enchanted Memories Travel, Fitzy’s Pub, Fresh Catch North Attleboro, Habibis Restaurant, Harmony Chiropractic, Hilliards, Indulgence Nail & Spa, KC’s Diner, Mad Moose Saloon, Mind 2 Body Fitness, Morin’s Diner, North Bowl, North End Deli, One Up Games, Pea Poddery, Seven Stars Bakery, Southwick’s Zoo, Stix, Stone Ridge Grill & Bar, Towne Tavern, Unlikely Story Bookstore, White’s Music and many more.
The raffle has historically been part of the holiday fair held every December. With COVID bringing new restrictions around visitors coming to school in 2021, it returned last year during parent-teacher conference time in November right before the Thanksgiving break, which proved to be a success.
The event raised enough funds to cover field trips to Plimoth Plantation, transportation costs for four buses to Plymouth, and will help cover other events this such as the Magnet Makers visit to third graders next January.
